Family History

Charlet has done extensive research in tracing our family history back several generations.  I’ve posted the ancestry quiz that was presented during the 2014 family reunion to the right.  Also posted is the ancestry family tree provided by Charlet.

Why is family history important?  Cassie Sanford Clark explained it best on her website (The Sanford Family Misfit) which I've slightly reworded below:

Documenting and understanding your family history is important because it helps an individual identify with their family, culture, and history.  By taking a look at the roots of one’s family tree, they can see why their family belongs to a particular faith, appreciate a family name that has been passed down through the generations, or understand how they came to live in a certain area.  All these things can give a person the feeling of being bonded to their family as well as provide an understanding of their own identity.

I’ve also included a slideshow below of a visit I had to Nalbach, Germany in 2009.  I’ve done family research and believe that some Nalbach family ancestors lived in this region, but have not been able to come up with definitive proof yet.  Anyway, it’s a town of less than 10,000 citizens and it’s located in southwest Germany in the district of Saarlouis, in the state of Saarland, which is near the Luxembourg border, about a 3-hour drive from Brussels, Belgium.
